Self Reliance of Utah is a non-profit organization providing five different programs which allow us to tailor our services to each individual client. We follow the Independent Living and Self Determination philosophies.
Self Determination is the ability of individuals to make the choices that allow them to exercise control over their own lives, to achieve the goals to which they aspire and to aquire the skills and resources necessary to participate fully and meaningfully in society. (www.nconsd.org)
Independent Living is participating in day-to-day life, living where you choose and making decisions that lead to self determination. It is having the right and the opportunity to pursue a course of action. And, it is having the freedom to fail and to learn from one's failures just as non-disabled people do. (www.mtstcil.org)
